Hi all,

I have a really bad leak appearing in the passenger side rear foot well of my Octavia VRs. The mat and the carpet are soaking.

It's happened once before when I just bought the car, and can you believe that Skoda said it wasn't a warranty item so were not willing to fix it! What's the point in buying approved.

I had it fixed then by the dealer at the cost of 60 buck, and, from my girlfriends description, I think they cleaned out debris from the conduit that takes water from the windscreen down to the ground.

Does any of this sound familiar? Is that what I should be looking to do and if so how do I get in at it etc?

Please help, my more simple mates think it's hilarious that my Skoda leaks.

I'd be checking its not coming in over the sill if the inner door membrane is not sealed.

have a search on here for removing the scuttle cover that shouls get you going. Once you have the cover off, on the passenger side you will see the pollen filter and to the right of that a large drainage hole that is probably full of leaves and has a cable running though it. Just to the right of the pollen filter there should be a rubber bung - some people route power cables, etc though it - I had my laser detector cable runnign though it, but that can cause a leak too - some silicon sealant around that worked a treat.

Also consider undoing the bottom bit of wheel arch trim and pulling out the leaves / compost that is in there too..... (if your not quite sure where, pour some water in the drain hole at the top and see where it comes out.....)

When the door membrain is leaking you normally also expect to see some water on the door sill rubber too (quite often the case when after market speakers have been fitted).

There have been a few similar issues with the rear sunroof drains. They run from where the back of the sunroof is when it's wound right back, down the C-pillars.

Don't forget an ill fitting air con drain and a disconnected rear washer pipe as a source of water inside.

I had a flood in my rear passenger footwell... pretty sure it was the grommet as it only happened after I ran in some extra cabling.

I have been lead to believe that with the leaves blocking the drainage holes if you rock the car a bit you can hear water sloshing about.....

I have leakage on my passenger front footwell, it comes in UNDER the door!, but my road is heavily camberd so i park it level and none comes in!.

Check both door seals are ok. That's the usual one on the frame, and the one on the base of the door.

I get that on my Octy too, but the plastic membrain in the door was hacked to pieced by the previous owner (or the person he employed) when they fitted some aftermarket alpine speakers and crossover units....
