A friend here in norway got a 2000 octavia 1.8turbo frondt wheel drive 150bhp. its buildt to 350-400bhp and over 450nm torque.
We are thonking off putting a Leon 1,8T 180bhp 6speed box in this car.

What exactly more than the box do we ned?. like driveshafts. gear/engine mounts? linkage. or just buy a sequential from sqs?

Does the Leon Use the same Quaife diff as the Octavia 5 speed? as the car already got a queife diff

You need gearbox, flywheel, clutch, engine cover on flywheel/engine interface, driveshafts, and nuts and bolts for quite a few things (a lot of stretch bolts and locking nuts along the drivetrain). Then you need custom airco line supports (2x), clutch tubing support, and I am not sure but you might need 6-spd clutch pipework or heavily bend the existing one.

You can keep original gear lever and the cables - I have done TDI110 from 5spd to 6spd and still keep the 6-th gear as a surprise :-)
It's worth to adapt the speedo with VAG-com, otherwise it's too far off. I only did it after a year - didn't know about it until then.

No idea about quaife on Leon, but if it's non-vrs Octy it does not have quaife or anything advanced for that matter.

sorry but you need to change box/starter motor/drive shafts/selectors/gear knob thingy/clutch/flywheel/clutch pipe complete plus obvious things like fluids nuts and bolts.

speedo won't be out as it has a speed sensor on it

do not adjust the 5 speed clutch pipe to fit the 6 speed as you might wreck something as the 6 speed has a damper inline.

If I was you mate I'd go for a deisel 6 speed 02m IIRC.
iirc the 5 n 6 speed petrols are the same top end.

yeah they are the same top end but the 6 speed is far stronger. diesel is too long i feel, whats the points in having a car geared for 300mph?

Also the connection onto the gearbox for the clutch is different as the six speed has an internal slave cylinder.

Just done such a conversion on bengies car.

from that picture it looks more like a custom cnc machined piece rather than a standard factory piece

Sorry, forgot the starter motor. Gear knob does not make gear change different, and my clutch has been fine for 5 years without the damper, though
:-)

Speedo will be out - speed sensor is one thing, but there is a different number of impulses per km that the 6-speed uses. that's why you need to adapt it in Instrument Cluster
