| Long life oil experiences Hi Folks, Yes I know I should get my 1.6 102bhp converted back to 10,000 miles servicing and I may get it done next time it goes in for service. But I've done 72,000 miles so far with services every 19,000 miles or so (which is almost exactly 12 months between services as I do about 20,000 per year), and no problems so far. Oil level gets to the bottom of the hatched part of the dipstick by the end of the period but otherwise all seems OK. I just wondered if anyone had done major mileage (ie 150,000+) under the long life oil scheme and noticed any significant shortcomings. Obviously this engine is common to VW (and I presume Seat and Audi) so I'm not limiting this request to Skoda owners. Honest John always goes on about this method of servicing being done simply to make the accountants happy but I feel that VAG wouldn't recommend it unless they were reasonably happy. Thanks in advance for your help. I was planning to do a sneaky, and change the oil+filter myself at the midpoint (9,500 miiles or so) but ran out of time in the spring. SR |
