| Looking to buy an Octavia Turbo Guys, I'm new here, (actually I joined a while ago), but I'm just thinking about getting new car, and the Octavia is top of the list. The thing is I'm looking at the 4x4 turbo estate, but I was wondering if it's worth getting the 4x4 over the FWD. A the moment I've got a Subaru Forester turbo, and I like the handling of a 4WD. Also, am I right in thinking all the 1.8 turbos can be tuned to similar power? I don't want to go mad, just a remap, air filter, and maybe exhaust if I can get one that is no louder than the standard one. Any buying advice would be much appreciated. |

| Re: Looking to buy an Octavia Turbo the 4x4 isnt perminant 4x4 like a Forester. IIRC its FWD most of the time and sends power to the back when needed. All 1.8T can be tuned to the same power levels 205/215 max. What id personally say is if you get the 4x4 then just get a remap and decent panel filter unless you want turbo noise. Failing that ask Bengie as his 4x4 has pretty much seen and done it all ![]() |

| Re: Looking to buy an Octavia Turbo Thanks for the reply, I spent most of last night searching the forum, and found a lot of info. I think the 4x4 is the one for me. I think you are right about the panel filter, I'm not looking to make much noise, hence the need for a quiet exhaust, but it seems no one makes one for for the 4x4 estate and I'll need to get one custom made. |

| Re: Looking to buy an Octavia Turbo The 4x4 octy drives in fwd unless you actually lost traction, so it's drive and handling is the same as the non-4x4, but it's heavier, slower and less economic. You would be well advised (unless you want to tow things out of fields) to get the fwd and spend any extra cash on upgrades. All 1.8t's can be tuned but I'd be cautious of boosting my auto too much, depends what box you have on I think. Quote:
