Loss of power on Octavia 110 tdi

Could anyone advise me as to what might be wrong with my Octavia please? It starts ok, ticks over ok, excellerates ok up to 2000 revs, after that it just seems to run out of steam!

Has anyone had a similar problem? My car has covered 66,000 miles without any problems up to now.

Could it be that the diesel filter needs changing or is the turbo wearing out?

Many thanks

Martin from sunny Blackpool

Welcome to briskoda.

Try checking all the pipes are done up ok, the filters might make a bit of a difference.

Are you getting any warning codes?

As a first port of call I would try cleaning your MAF (Do a search for that on here).

I'm sure somebody who knows a bit more will be along in a bit.

Has the car been serviced etc according to the normal schedule?

It's worth getting someone with VAGCOM to check your car for error codes, or take it to a dealer to get it checked out perhaps.

MAF is always a nice candidate but around 2k rpm is where the turbo is supposed to start working properly, so let's hope it's not that.

In any case, I wouldn't drive with this problem for too long, it may be nothing (and I hope that's the case) but why risk it

Thanks for the response.

There has been no warning codes displayed, it will actually rev to 3500 but it takes a long time getting there.

thanks

Martin

It's an airmass meter. They go like clockwork on TDi 110's every 60k - 75k they are £84 for the part I believe and don't take long to fit on the TDi in the Octavia about 30 mins I should think plus road test.

Re: Loss of power on Octavia 110 tdi

Removal and fitting is easy as pie on a TDI 110.

However since they are so easy to clean and a can of IPA costs under £5 it is definately worth giving it a clean to see if that helps before splashing out £85.

Whats IPA and how do you clean it, do you just spray the MAF Sensor?

Thanks
