Hello everyone. Forgive my bad english, since i'm not a native english speaker. I've recently bought a 1999 skoda octavia break 1.9tdi. As ofr equipment is has loads of stuff (compared to my old golf III). Though i found it strange to have drums on the rear wheels, instead of disks. Also it has a sony radio, not a pre built one. The car is great, but has a few issues i'd like to solve... and solve by myself since i'll be paying the car for the next few years and cant afford to take it to a repair shop for this little (but improvable, since i really like the car) things. Problems: 1) All doors make weird noise when closed like the windows glass is not in place or something. The noise is louder when the windows is down. 2) It has central locking with remote on the key. When i use the key to lock the car it looks ok all four doors plus the trunk door, but when i use the driver's door option to look all the doors the rear left door locks and immediatly unlocks... all other doors remain locked. 3) When in motion if not on a perfectly great road, besides the noise the windows glass do ( the noise i mentioned in #1 is also noticeable when in motion) there's a new noise that seems to come from the locker of the doors. This is notiseable on all doors. 4) the front arm support makes weird noise when i have my arm supported in it and i move. Like it needs lubrification... but i opened it and found only plastic parts... any idea on how to "kill" the noise? 5) Last week i made a +- long journey in the car... since i was only using a map to go to the places i went to i did not knew the road conditions, and found some nasty roads, some which i should use a 4x4 car and not my normal car. After this jouney i found the car started to tremble a bit after 110km/h and a lot after 130km/h. I've looked at the tires and found no problem in them, also the rims seem ok. What could it be? 6) Last but not least... to disassemble some parts of the car i could really use a manual, since i do not want to disassemble it and when assembling find out i dont know how. I have contacted Skoda here in Portugal and they said they could not give me such manual... i dunno why, but they just refuse to give me the manual, the guy said there are books out there that help in such things, but could not give me the name of one. If you know one please tell me. And if you know a place on the internet i can download suck a manual, that would be even better. Thanks in advanced for any answer. Take care, Gant

Can only answer a few of your questions but: 1) Check the striker plates (I think that's what they're called) are tight and adjusted correctly. 5) You may have lost a balancing weight on one of your wheels. Take it to a tyre fitters and getthem to check the balancing on all four wheels. Might be worth getting the tracking checked too if you've been over really rough ground. 6) There isn't a manual for the Octavia. Haynes are allegedly producing one soon but we'll have to wait and see. You could try a VW Golf or Passat manual as the cars are basically the same. Last edited by RichDay; 18-08-2005 at 11:51.

RichDay: Thanks a lot for your answers. ![]() As for issues 1 to 4 i've just ordered the golf 1999-2005 haynes manual from amazon today... will wait for it to arrive and then adventure into disassembling the things... maybe i'll try soons with the tutorial i read here next to me. On issue 5 i'll take your advice and take it to the repair shop. About #6...hope they do... the car is out here for a while now... it had a restyling and all no still no manual... i think they sell pretty well. Hope they do a manual soon... i'm sure to buy it. ![]() Again thanks for your input.
