Metal Flooring

hi everyone,

My carpets are now passed the cleaning stage and I was thinking of replacing them with the sheet metal stuff, to match the pedals.

Has anyone done this before or can recommend someone to do it for me?

thanks

Re: Metal Flooring

Get a black/dark grey set of carpets of a written off non VRS?

The metal seems like a bad idea in terms of noise and also it would be slippry.

Re: Metal Flooring

I think you mean "chequerplate". In which case I'd suggest trying your Yellow Pages for "Steel Stockholders".

But it'll be heavy, slippery and noisy; I'd suggest sourcing new carpets unless it's a pure trackday car.

Re: Metal Flooring

Chequer Plate is available from Europa Specialist Spares (Europa Specialist Spares Ltd) and I think from memory it is aluminium, 2mm thick and avialable in 2 sizes:-

48"x12" = £34.99
48"x24" = £40.00

Not to my taste but who am I to argue

Re: Metal Flooring

thanks, it was checkerplate i was thinking of, was going to put rubber mats down over the top as it's just the area right at the back under the dash, at the side of the pedels and same on the passenger side that's filthy.

but second hand dark carpets could be another idea

Re: Metal Flooring

Where the transmission tunnel would be on a front engine RWD car? I was thinking of rubber mats, but they'll not cover that area.
