| Mis-fire Hi, just called the RAC out for a big misfire on my 4x4, he found that coil pack 3 was causing it, so replaced it. Car was idling fine and alright when revving. So off he went. I went for a test drive and the misfire was still there but only when pushing on! Engine management light was flashing when it was mis-firing, but as soon as I relaxed off the accelerator, it was gone. Called back the RAC man, he plugged in the diagnostics, we went for a test drive, and it repeatedly did the same, however when the engine light was flashing, no fault codes were registered! So he was unable to determine which cylinder it was causing the problem. so we put back the old coil pack, and the original mis-fire at idle was back again. Going to take it to skoda this week for a better investigation. But has anyone got any ideas? Cheers |

| Re: Mis-fire Sounds like another coil pack. I'd upgrade all packs to the latest spec. Get your dealer to have a word with Skoda c/s they may pay towrds them.

| Re: Mis-fire I have an extended warranty so should be no problem! Dealer is only 3 miles away so will have to try to limp there on 2.5 cylinders! I have 2 J specs, the one thats gone is a H and the tricky number 4 I dont know, we didnt look. Out of interest though, how unhelpful is the diagnostic software if it can't detect a misfire when my teeth nearly fell out through the lumpyness! And what is the point of the engine light flashing to scare you when it doesnt actually record any useful fault codes? Is it just the fact that the engine management is so good at controlling the exhaust emissions, that the exhaust sensor can't quite detect the unburnt fuel? I hope this isn't the start of a long diagnostic trail.... Last edited by noodles; 05-03-2006 at 18:46. |

| Re: Mis-fire hello see my post today 13:20 this sounds exactly the same as our 1.4 Fabia except on ours, the engine light stopped flashing and stayed on all the time, the misfire reduced, the engine went into limp mode and it recorded a fault code showing a misfire on number two. this happened four time in as many months ...just out of interest, was yours manufactured june/july 06????? dave A |
