| Re: MK1 Octy VRS a future classic? Not a classic as such but probably a well respecte bargain buy. The only fly in the ointment will be if the ch@vs start buying them up like they are with the Scooby's.

| Re: MK1 Octy VRS a future classic? Everyone said rear engined Skodas wouldn't become classics but look at them now and how much money they are fetching.I think that in 15 years time, a genuine, original, unmolested vRS will definately be a classic. The cars we drove new 20 - 30years ago are now the classics of today. |

| Re: MK1 Octy VRS a future classic? I would say not a classic, but a well respected car in Skoda's developing history with Volkswagen and also a very very good used buy.

| Re: MK1 Octy VRS a future classic? Lada 1200 riva is now a classic car and so is the robin, so our classy quality motors should make it as classics especially as most cars with some spoting pedigree behind them do. ![]() |

| Re: MK1 Octy VRS a future classic? Yeah I think it will become a classic. The most important car Skoda have made. It changed everyones opinion of Skoda, and brought back their sporting heritage. Everyone that knows about cars, respects the mk1 Octavia vRS. Including the police of course! I can't think of anything to compare it to... maybe a 205 GTi...

| Re: MK1 Octy VRS a future classic? It'll certainly be a rare car, due to the sales volume, the Darwin effect on subsequent owners and will have to endure some years as a banger before it goes on its way up. Time will tell as to its durability, its only been out around 7 years but seems to be developing a reputation for having fragile electronics amongst other things. Unfortunately it's not in Skodas interest to make car that lasts or that is a straight forward to maintain from a DIY angle. What happens when the car reaches 15 years old?, when, according to the hanbook the airbags and controller need renewing. Will it constantly bring the light on?, will the government amend the MOT rules so that an air bag light is a failure? Will vehicle insurers insist they are renewed? Enjoy it while you can, take some photos now as I think that in years to come they will just be fond memory. |
