Mk5 Golf GTi alloys on a Mk1 vRS

I've got an idea....I'm thinkin of replacing my original spec 17" Mk1 Octavia vRS alloys with a set of MkV Golf GTi replicas....Anyone else fitted a set of these to a vRS? My car is red and was hoping someone else would have a photo so I can have an idea how they'd look.....Cheers

Genuine ones wont fit unfortunately. The Octy is PCD 5x100, the Mk5 Golf 5x112... but I guess you already know that.

As for replicas, can you link me to them?

Re: Mk5 Golf GTi alloys on a Mk1 vRS

Get some feedback on the replica quality before you buy, some alloys are made of softer alloy than the std wheels & will buckle easier, generally you get what you pay for. I had a set of woolfrace wheels once & buckled 3 in a year, they were just tooooooooooo soft

I just posted that for illustrative purposes. You can get them in 5x100, I've seen them on a few Mk4 Golf's and they were on sale at GTI International last year.

Re: Mk5 Golf GTi alloys on a Mk1 vRS

Ok so not quite on the car, but you get the idea.
Sorry for the poor quality they were taken on my phone.
Taken at Wheelmania in Birmingham
Their 18" and 5x100

Their not bad, but I didn't think they worked with my rear spoiler...much preferred these (shame they only do them in 20's)!!!

I like too, and I think that they will work very well on a red Octy

I'll be interested to see what they look like as I thought they'd only work on cars with more curves to them.
What wheels does the red Octavia in your signature have on it? They looks pretty nice.

Not a bad deal at all, assuming they are 'budget' tyres??

All budget tyres, will see what they're like..... if they're mince I'll shop around for better ones.

FAO - T70DD wheels on signature are just the standard vRS 17" jobbies but they do look rather fetching on the picture. Mine certainly don't shine like that!!

The price of the wheels sealed the deal, this way I can start saving up for a Jabba remap earlier!!

Cheers

I have been after a set of wheels like those fuel 5s (black with chrome lip) for a while now for my black octy but now that i'm looking i am begining to see them very often on all sorts of cars and wonder if i should find another style, Those new golf gti wheels looked pretty tasty. Don't wanna follow the crowd!

How come some have 16"? Were they an option or was there a date when they changed the wheels to 17"?

Hello Todd!

The estates always came with 16s. Was just a thing Skoda did. Perhaps to give the hatch a more sporty appeal, and the combi a more user friendly look?

I'm not 100% certain but as far as I'm aware some of the earliest vRS hatchbacks came with 16's....

There are a few threads debating this but no-one seems to have a definite answer.

The black glossy ones are becoming quite popular with the 'neds and their sheds' but I still think that on the right car they look pretty damn good!

I think black Octy vRS with the fuel 5s is a nice thought....!

Where you get the Octy logo?? I like it!!

Cheers

Re: Mk5 Golf GTi alloys on a Mk1 vRS

Any updates on this Elvis?? If the estate comes with 16s then I'll definitely want to change them straight away.
I think black wheels with polished lip also look very nice on silver cars.

I'm waiting for the Mrs' scan to find out if we have another 1, 2 or more. I already have a 3 month old so if there's another 1 then I can get the Octavia. If there's more then I'm buggered

Got a M8 with a similar problem, he bought himself a 350Z & an Espace for the Mrs, the 350 is now up to about 500 bhp, the Espace is still std
