Modded Octavia VRS

Just wondered what you guys would reckon to an Octavia VRS running approximately 250bhp by way of a larger turbo(KO4??),intercoolers etc.

I currently have an Impreza Turbo that i bought to replace a remapped Leon Cupra R,and i now have the chance to buy the above.

I assume it will be pretty similar to my LCR in the way it drives etc as it is a similar spec, but is there anything that the VRS's are prone to..................especially when modded?

Any help will be appreciated by a Briskoda virgin

Re: Modded Octavia VRS

I wouldnt say that they are prone to anything apart from the coilpack failures that occured a good long while ago.

As for the way it drives compared to an LCR no idea as ive never driven one

Re: Modded Octavia VRS

Not a great deal of difference between my freinds LCR and my VRS, The LCR has 6 gears VRS 5. LCR has less bodyroll in corners than VRS altho this can be easily sorted. No obvious problems to report, in all honesty i'd rather have my VRS than his LCR even tho the LCR is quicker around the nurburgring - damn him!!
With 250 bhp tho it could be 1-0 to skoda .

I've been in thos impreza's and the way they accelerate from stand still - you'll have to re-train your right foot, i'm sure you experienced wheel hop (front end bounce) with your LCR as it rears its ugly head when wheels loose traction with abundance on both LCR and VRS
You couldn't go far wrong in my opinion tho - good luck

Ah, but your suspension is non-standard. On stock springs and dampers there is no end of wheel hop when booting it

thats a relief,i thought it was just mine.saves your tyres though as i no longer boot it in first because the wheel hop feels awful

Never really had a problem with the LCR as it was lowered on some Eibach springs and had some 19" Superleggara's on it,but i loved the way it drove...............especially after the Custom Code Remap .

The VRS has always appealed really as a package,it just doesn't have enough power as standard for my liking, but the one i am looking at deals with that problem very well !!

However,my dilema is that i also love my Impreza as it grips like a leach,so i am tempted to stay with the Subarus and buy a Version 8 STI PPP (305bhp with the possibility of upto 340bhp with a better remap),although that means spending a lot more money obviously .

I also love adding my own stamp to my cars and the VRS is the most comprehensively modified car before i get my hands on it,so i don't know if i will become board not having anything to do to it.........................although boredom is an ongoing argument in my house with the missus as i went through 9 cars in 2006................decisions,decisions!!!

Re: Modded Octavia VRS

You can still add your own stamp, 250bhp is small figures for a vRS...
