Motorsport sound

As the title suggests I'm after making the octy sound a little more 'sporty'. I've read somewhere that the Carbonio/ABD intakes will add a more 'throaty' sound but which one is best? I aint worried about fitting coz JBS will do that I have a K&N panel with milltek full SS system atm but it is very 'understated'.

I also have a Forge 007p dv and while happy with its 'performance' I wouldn't mind it being a little louder, which is the loudest re-circ valve available?

Cheers

Milltek exhaust is not noisey so if you wanted to keep up with the Nova boys running their bean-can rear boxes you chose wrong there.

To get any level of decent induction noise and dump valve "blow-off" you need an induction kit, standard air box and panel filter restricts any decent level of dB (don't ask me why, it just does). People in the main here have either ABD racing or Carbonio. The aluminium ADB is loud (presumably because metal is less absorbant of sound waves than carbon fibre), but carbonfibre job looks best. Either type would be fitted with a cone-style pleated filter.

Yep - wot he said

Get yourself an ABD or Carbonio intake and a custom made back-box (something like a local Powerflow dealer or Blueflame) for all the right noises!

I don't really like the excessive noise a loud exhaust gives off (unless its coming from a TVR)...so I'm happy with the miltek. Induction 'roar' and a 'blow-off' ptttiissssh sound is what I'm looking for without having to go with a 'blow-off' valve as the re-circ type are better for the 1.8T I hear. Would I need to buy extra ducting or is the tubing supplied with the ABD/Carbonio adequate? Also is there no 'noisier' re-circ valve than the forge 007?

you wont need to change the recirc valve once the induction kit is installed. i run a Bailey recirc and Jabba induction kit and James at JBS thought i was running an atmos dump valve ! the noise mine makes is that loud.

as for ducting, IIRC the Carbonio/ABD CAI induction kits run the filter down into the front bumper so you only need to modify the mesh on the front passenger side grille to make full benifit of the intake.

Go for the ABD, it's cheaper, looks better IMO and JBS have them in stock. Also due to the design of the ABD not using a seperate oil breather it stops the extra engine noise you get with some kits whilst still improving induction noise significantly.

So which is louder/sounds better? ABD or Carbonio? Gotta admit I prefer the look of the ABD but then I wont be looking at it too often so looks don't really matter too much.

I'll be taking the car down to JBS to get some gauges fitted next month so I'll probably get the induction kit fitted then. Call me a wuss but I won't be asking about any 'flamer kit'

Thanks for the replies so far guys...really helpful

ABD it is then. Anyone know how much this kit costs (and fitting via JBS)? I really don't want to phone Sarah @ JBS again...wifes getting a tad miffed/suspicious

p.s Seems I was in a no-win situation with the flamer kit....wuss or CHAV.
I made the better choice in hindsight I would however go the unpopular route and have green neons/led's under car ..Chavtastic!
