Multiple electrical faults - windows/locks/interior light/light warning buzzer

I recently had to have minor body repairs to rear 1/4 panel and front wing (both on left). On collection, door remote locking, elec windows, interior light, headlight warning buzzer are all in-operable. Tailgate lock works in manual mode but does not synch with doors. Repair shop claim veh was protected from spike during welding. Skoda main dealer ran diagnostics but no fault found. Fuses check out. Any physical disruption would have been to rear left or front left wiring. Any ideas?

My first port of call would be the convenience unit which is inside the dash, roughly behind the headlight switch. As I understand it, all the functions you list are controlled by this unit.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Re: Multiple electrical faults - windows/locks/interior light/light warning buzzer

Thanks for the tip o diconnect/reconnect. Sadly, no improvement. On possibility that the convienience unit has failed, there was a suggestion from the body shop that this was located in the driver door pillar.

Without getting out the blamethrower, is it likely that this failure is related to the pin-welding necessary to pull out the dents? Would convienience unit failure not show on Skoda diagnostics?

If any welding machine that uses electricity has been used it is paramount that the battery should be disconnected first, if gas welding welding is used no need to disconnect the battery.

Re: Multiple electrical faults - windows/locks/interior light/light warning buzzer

The convenience unit (CU) is located behind the dash close to the back of the light switch. The convenience system will show error codes, though I have come across a couple of cases where they haven't. One was where someone had put the battery on charge for 5 hours (Fabia), unfortunately on the 24V setting, there was a communication problem wth the CU. The second was where there was a problem with the boot lights (Octavia Estate), I think that disconnecting the lights sorted it. Whenever we weld a car at work we put a spike protector across the battery and have so far not had any problems. If a Skoda dealer can't get to the bottom of it, try a specialist auto electrician.

Again, thanks for the inputs. It is an Octy Estate and the wiring to the rear cluster had been disconnected. I wonder whether this is the problem.
