Talking Are my brakes big enough - er YES

Following on from my post a few days ago.
Today I met the Sales Manager from Compbrake in Preston who manufacture their own calipers for fast road and competition use and provide big brake kits. I wanted to look at the quality before jumping in with both feet. Anyway impressive stuff - have a look what I've bought home!

Dont know where this little fellow came from - Anyone lost a dog?!

The callipers are immense - 6 pot light weight aluminium stoppers to replace the weedy green things Skoda stuck on!

Powervane 2 piece discs also a step in the right direction. 330mm diameter and a huge 32mm wide whilst still being lighter than the original VW discs thanks to the aluminium bells.

All fitings supplied and big aluminium carriers. oh and also braided hoses.

All I need now is some good wheather, I keep you all updated. Can't wait to go the Nurburgring now, I'll be able to do 2 laps without waiting half an hour in the car park for my brakes to stop glowing, ticking and going soft

Nice set up. And I'm excited about getting a set of G88's and DS2500 for my car.
I'd say they cost a pretty penny.

Re: Are my brakes big enough - er YES

They must be mega expensive if they come with their own guard dog! (not a very scary one though)

They look very impressive though.

Edit: Just been on their website and assuming they were the same/similar price as the Mk 4 golf kit, they are as expensive as they look

I reckon it'll be like a cartoon when he stamps on the brakes - the wheels will stop dead and the bodyshell will shoot forward and carry on going!

Brilliant!

Cheers guys, they will fit behind the standard 17 inch spider alloys - JUST! But with the 18 inch OZ's on mine should be no probs! I was tempted to go for the 350mm discs put then I'd have to keep the 18's on all the time.

Hands off the guard dog people, he is actually a massive scary thing - the brakes just came in a massive barrel!

They are the same as the golf MK4 kit. I've been supplied with various shims and spacers just incase but expecting no problems

Should put ripples in the tarmac

In relative terms I think it is. For what you're getting - the performance they offer, and the build quality and craftmanship. Also separate bell housings

Yeah the centre bells which bolt onto the outer circle of the disk are alloy, so theres a big weight saving to be had.
