| I think the time is probably here to replace my shocks (front and back). I would not object if the body roll was reduced a bit, but that would be a bonus, rather than the primary objective. Also, I can't afford to lower the car - it already catches sometimes. The car is nothing fancy - a bog standard 2001 Elegance TDi 110 estate (2001). What are my options, other than just standard skoda shocks. Thanks! |

| Re: New shocks You know my suggestion matt. FSD and stock springs. Will actually raise the car by a few mm until it's settled than you will be at the stock height. Obviously that depends on how much they are compared to the standard shocks though. Mark

| Re: New shocks I would say that depends on how expensive they are, but since your car has done about 100k and i assume you have never changed them I can see a benifit in changing them and the bushes directly associated with the suspension at the same time. I mean how damn annoying would it be if you had to pay out a load of labour again if one of the bushes split or a spring broke just after you changed the shocks. IIRC the stock springs are pretty reasonable, but somebody else should be able to answer better on the exact pricing.

| Re: New shocks Hi just found you thread, got an Octavia elegance 110tdi estate (52) 115k miles. The rear dampers are shot and I think the offside lower wishbone bushings are gone too. Did you go with the stock springs/dampers? How much did it cost? Would prefer something a bit firmer but there is no way the ride hight can be lowered. Have driven a golf mk4 with eibach dampers made a huge difference but too dear at £400. |

| Re: New shocks Hi, Currently I have not had any time to deal with the car... but I need to do it before the next MoT! I guess cheezemonkhai comments in the second post are the way to go, but I have not found out any prices yet. Currently I am trying to figure out how to pay for my laser eye surgery instead! But once that is done, and I have sorted out my garage, the shocks will be replaced - but I would imagine that won't be happening this side of Christmas. |
