New Skoda Owner - Octavia vRS Tdi

Sorry Folks I should have put this in Octavia II

Picking up my first ever Skoda on Friday, bought a jn '07 vRS TDi in silver with 18" wheels, Jumbo, parking sensores etc. Moving from a Yellow leon Cupra 180 BHP petrol.

Planning to drive straight down to cornwall from Yorkshire. Hope its not a lemon or the wife'll kill me!

Do they drink oil? My Leon never touched a drop. What MPG do you reckon i'll get on a steady 80Mph run?

Re: New Skoda Owner - Octavia vRS Tdi

Lucky you, sounds like a nice car.

I have a not so advanced Octavia TDi which I have only ever had to top up with oil twice in 3 and a bit years of having it so hopefully yours, being a newer car and better engine will not need too much topping up.

I have a variable service on mine so have to use the Castrol SLX synthetic oil so I am glad at not having to top it up that often.

As for you mpg well I'm not expert but at a steady speed of 80 I would imagine you should achieve between 45-55 MPG maybe more but I have kind of based that on what mine would do at those speeds, you have (presumably) the PD engine which is even more frugal I believe so you may get even better MPG.

Just avoid Supermarket fuel, whenever I use that I always notice less MPG than if I use Shell or Esso diesel. I get best MPG from BP fuel but they tend to charge a lot more for it. I've never used the premium diesel fuels though just the standard stuff always get good MPG and performance from it.
