Fronts are nearly at the end of their life, especially after doing 1k miles in the last 4 days!

Was going to get some "EAGLE F1 GS-D3 205/55 R16 91W BSW" for £59 each delivered.

Are these one of the best for the vRS?

I have 16s on my car so they'll be 205/55/16 (unless I get a good set of 17s offered I think I'll just stick with these).

Also new on the front or back? At that price might just replace all four

Will these be alot better than my Dunlop SP Sport 2000s?

I think your dunlops are probably better... softer tread so grips better. Plus I had eagles before and thought they were pretty average... how come your running 16s on a VRS? I thought they were all 205 50 17's?

I heard toyos wear quite quick but have excellent grip.
I'm gonna go for the falken fk452's again next time.I am Impressed by their grip for a budget tyre.

Nope, the early ones (well 51 plate I think) came with 16s, also the vRS estates came with 16s.

I'd much prefer 17s but can't find good set for a good price, don't want to spend £100+ just for that extra inch if I'm honest.

might be worth looking at camskill. They've been the cheapest supplier for my tyres the past 3 times I've bought.

I agree that Dunlops are soft and wear quick. They don't give good grip though IME!

Some early hatches, the Indian market cars, and the vRS estates had 16s.

Hmm I'll have a look on ebay.. can't picture the 16s, don't know if I've ever seen (or perhaps noticed) the 205 55 16 versions...saw some 17s in ebay a while back for the VRS but they didn't come with tyres and were over priced :-(

I put some new fronts on mine at weekend - Goodyear Excellence at £140 the pair fitted and balanced. They seem be very good for the money - sticky and no change to fuel consumption.

Toyo proxies deffo best tyre i've had Ever!!

I heard they wear out quicker too but so far they seem as good wearing as most others i have tried.

I recntly bought a pair of Michelin HP Primacys from e-bay, brand new and I got them for £116 delivered and they are a great tyre. I have them on my VW Bora but they are the same size you're after 205 55 R16.

I also had 16s on my Octy VRS hatch and it was a 51 plate. I had Pirellis all round and the grip was reasonable and wear was fantastic.

Thought I'd throw in this for a little bit of variation... was gonna go with Falken 452s but went for Nokian Z instead. Had all 4 changed and have so far been very impressed with them after 2000 miles. They came very highly recommended by my local outfit and were cheaper than most of the other brands too. Nice tread pattern and great wet and dry road holding (although I don't push the car too much!)

I've got some Falken 452 on the golf. Seem very good for the money, but I was more impressed with the Toyo's T1R and Goodyear GSD3s I've had in the past...

I have not used them but I know someone who has and he was pleased.

I used them on pricing and they were cheap.

In the end my local tyre place beat them and sold me 4 Michelin pilots for £320.00 all in and what a difference they make!

I have falkens 452 on the front, like you say good for the money, grip well but i find the road noise a bit loud. I'll been getting goodyears gsd3's next thats for sure.

I went from Toyo Proxes on my VRS to Michelin HP Primacy and what a difference I instantly felt them grip better than the Toyo's. Everybody raved that the Toyo's were better, but the proof was in the driving for me. Yes the Toyo's were worn, but they weren't always that way. The (honest) fitter that I use says that Michelins are the best, and they come at a cost, but are worth it. I am glad I paid the extra

I have Eagle f1 GSD3's all round and LOVE them! I cant wait for the tyres on my Mk2 vRS to wear out so I can get some F1's on that too!!

They have lasted for about 10,000 miles so far and have LOADS of tread left on them! They still look and drive like new, I can't recommend them enough.

I'll third the Michelin Pilot Primacies. I'll get the door handles on the tarmac before those things give up! They make the Dunlop Sport Sp2000s seem like I was driving on ice. Plus, my last set of Primacy HPs lasted about 25,000 miles on the front wheels.

Pricey, but I don't think I'll ever buy anything else.

I've just got four Michelin Pilot sports on my vrs, to replace eagle F1's.
I prefer the Michelin so far. (300 miles!)

I have the Michellin Pilot sports on my elegance wheels (205/55/16) and can't recommend them enough although I am replacing all 4 of mine for some kuhmo Ecsta's next week as I can't afford to strech to the michellins this time.

I've also had Toyo Proxie T1-s and wouldn't buy them again due to lack of grip and wet weather driving
