Noise from inside drivers door??? Help

Hello,

My octavia has a strange noise that seems to come from inside the drivers door close to where the door meets the b pillar (may even be rear door). The sound is very similar to that when you drive through some light mud and the mud gets flicked up and hits the inside of the wheel arches, almsot sounds like something hitting the outside skin (hope that makes sense).
The noise definitely gets worse with rougher road surfaces / speed bumps.
Has anyone seen / heard of this before, the local dealer couldn't even hear any noises. Any help would be appreciated....

Cheers,

Yeah, mine has a noise which I'm told is common on the Octavia. Comes and goes from the driver's door area, sounds very similar with a hint of vibration or tapping on top. I've experienced this for the last two years and I WILL get around to taking the door panel off and taping or binding the offending wiring up to stop it once and for all.

Got the EXACT same thing on mine. Also had it on my Astra Coupe I traded in. Thought it might be the ARB problem the Octys have?

Someone who knows what they're doing, get the panel off and let us know !

i also get this assumed it was the crossovers from my componets speakers rattling but maybe its not....

like Pythix its a case of being bothered to take of the door card to find it, i find if you drive faster it goes away or turn the music up loud enough lol

It could be the window regulator loose in the door (had afew of those recently), chattering from the door hinges or noise from the rear seat backs, just wind the adjusting grommets out a bit so the seat feels tight when it is clipped back.

Finally took a technician out for a test drive and he heard the noise.
Their course of action was to lubricate and tighten the drivers door lock, and so far so good, fingers crossed, touch wood and all that.
Then again though as the days get hotter the windows go down and the stereo goes up so I may just not be hearing it anymore...

I may also have this rattle form the rear seats, Fordfan where can I find these adjusting gromits?
Cheers for your help....

My solution for the rear seat backs problem was to wrap some electrical tape around the metal latches so that there is less movement. After I did this, the car sounded quiet like brand new!
