Noob wanting a vRS Hi guys,I'm new to the forum as i'm considering getting a vRS. Just a few questions. I'm thinking of getting a nearly new Octavia vRS (04 or 54) with less than 10k on the clock. 1). I want one with Xenons but there don't seem to be many about. What other options are there, dealer fitted, easy upgrades etc? 2). What are the Skoda warranties like? One of the reasons I am changing is due to an unreliable car, and need to make sure that it won't let me down, and if it does it ain't gonna cost me an arm and a leg. 3). Do you think its worth waiting a couple of months for the new registrations to come out? Maybe I would save money? 4). Also thinking of getting the Jabba remap. Can the dealer spot this, or reset it when it goes in for a service? So many questions... Cheers, Mark

1) upgrading a non xenon car to xenon would be very expensive to do - maybe just buy some aftermarket uprated bulbs such as osram silver stars or philips blue vision? 3) if you really wanted to save a lot wait for the new vrs which should be along shortly... the vrs is already cheap for the money though! 4) a dealer cant 'reset' a remap but if they tried they could spot it. in some cases they may say bye to the warrenty...depends on dealer to dealer. also if they take the car for a spin for some reason it wouldn't be that hard to notice unless you had a boost controller to turn it down or a switchable map i.e. revo Last edited by smerko; 26-07-2005 at 18:27.

Thanks for the replies, A Fabia is not for I'm afraid, I need a biggish car as I shift a fair bit of stuff around and do about 25kmiles a year on the motorway , also the other half likes the Octavia dn not the Fabia! 1). Thats what I thought about the Xenons, just have to keep looking. 3). Any one have any idea when the new vrs will arrive all I have heard is Late 2005, so I assume December. Might be able to wait that long... 4). The warranty is more important to me than the power upgrade so If there is a small chance of them spotting I best without it. Though when I went for a test drive in a vRS the sales guy kept going on about the remaps, couldn't work out if he was for or against them! Cheers, Mark.

Hello and welcome to the forum. You will be able to get loads of advice. I worked for a Skoda dealer for 5 years and warranty was one of my jobs. The Skoda warranty is good. The thing you have to be aware of is that if you mod anything you could be invalidating the warranty. If you go for a remap you could again be invalidating the warranty on other items. Go for one that can be changed back to stock. But be aware that if the dealers suspect that you have a remap they can find it. If you get any warning lights on the dash the technician will plug in the computer and do a full diagnostic check. This will not come up and say that you have a remap. With the new vRS coming out at the end of the year you may find that you could get a bargain if you shop around. Dealers cannot alter the remap on your car. The only way they could loose it for you is if they replace the ECU. Hope all this and the other posts help. If not just say and we will get back in touch. vRS NICE CAR............ Sarah
