numpty tyre related question Just went and checked the tyre pressures three tyres at 28 and one at c10, i had wondered why it felt odd the last couple of days. I am fairly certain it is only a slow puncture. Now for the numpty bit, this is my first car and never been too interested so don't know a great deal. How easy is this to fix? am i likely to have done any damage to the tyre by running it soft?

Re: numpty tyre related question TBH tyres are fairly tough but running a normal tyre on empty or low air could damage the tyre or even worse affect handling. I had a puncture in my tyre but the tyre wouldnt pump up. Found a Screw/nail embedded in there. Because the tread wasn't that deep I just bought a new tyre rather than have it repaired. I have had an experience with my Astra where I had to buy a whole new tyre cause it went flat with a nail stuck in and it was too damaged to repair cause I didnt notice until I parked up. I had to stick the spare wheel on my sisters Micra cause of a slow puncture and the repair was only £3. That tyre now sits as the spare.

Re: numpty tyre related question Getting tyres on and off the rims without the right machine is a bit of a bu99er mate. Depending on how long it takes to go down, a fitter may or may not be able to find it. Then, depending on where it is, he may or may not be prepared to plug it. The good news is that it'll take him maybe half an hour's work, to find the leak, and patch or replace.

| Re: numpty tyre related question depends how soft, if it was virtually flat then you could of damaged the sidewall, which could mean risk of a blow out when the tyre gets warm, but if it still had a far amount of air in then you should be fine.

Re: numpty tyre related question as it looks like i will soon need front tyres, any reason this wont work. Change the spare tyre for the punctured one, keep a front as a spare, it has enough tread to be legal, then fit two new tyres. does it matter if the new tyres go on the front or the back?
