Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance 130bhp Estate. What should I look out for

As I allready own an octavia I have a rough Idea of what to look for but is there anything in particular I should look for?

It's a 2004 Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance 130bhp Estate, 56,000 miles

Did this belong to anybody on here ?? Reg: OY04ZGP

About the same age and miles as my Octy hatch. The 130 pd had a tandem pump recall for Bolt replacements make sure this has been done . The only issues i have experienced are Creak in drivers seat ( replaced under warranty ) Ignition lock not unlocking stearing wheel ( New lock sets replaced under warranty ) All else has been fine so far . The 130 is so much more enjoyable than a 105 or 110 and i still get mid 50s per gallon on a motorway run .

Re: Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance 130bhp Estate. What should I look out for

17/02/2005 R/2004/215 SKODA FABIA,OCTAVIA, OCTAVIA 11,SUPERB (WITH 2 VALVE PUMP INJECTOR ENGINE) bolts of the tandem fuel pump cover may break 01/03/2004 to 31/08/2004 Build dates
Details above on the recall , if the one you are buying is in these dates you can check with Skoda Customer service or any dealer to check it has been carried out , if not they should still do it .

one other point to consider , they say the Time Belt should be replaced at 4 years or 60k miles , if you are getting this from a dealer maybe ask for the Belt to be done or drop the price by £350 to cover the cost . Just a thought

I heard it was 80k. I'll check the book, they couldn't tell me if it was variable or fixed servicing either. He did say it would have a service before it was purchased.

just checked my service book and if its the PD engine it's 60,000 miles if its not the PD it's 80,000 miles.

I guess this is the same setup as the Fabia vRS

Re: Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance 130bhp Estate. What should I look out for

iF IT IS GOING TO HAVE A SERVICE YOU WILL NEED TO TELL THEM IF YOU WANT IT SET AT FIXED OR VARIABLE depends on the miles you are doing , if its more than say 12k per year you may be better on variable , but they will need to do the service with the Long Life oil which is twice as expensive as standard , if they dont it will be on the standard fixed , THEY COULD WANT TO TAKE THE CHEAP OPTION AND JUST DO A FIXED SERVICE . aS TO THE tIME bELT YES THERE IS SOME CONFUSION ABOUT 60K OR 80K MILES considering the miles its done so far it may be best to demand a change of Belt for being near 60k miles . My dealer has said it should be 60k

My Octi vrs is on variable as I only used todo about 6k per year but suprised myself when I dug my service book out to take with me to the garage today, I'm now doing about 14k per year, So I will definatly ask for the neew car to be put onto Variable but I dont want it doing now. I will ask about a service voucher for when it is next due a service or I will be losing out, I will also push for the timing belt to be done in the service.

This is a sad sad day, I love my octi vRS to bits and the elegance estate has soooo much to live upto

I've just rung Skoda Customer Services and there have been no recalls issued on the car I'm going to look at

Re: Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance 130bhp Estate. What should I look out for

My 130 estate has developed the turbo vane fault Try it uphill in 6th gear under load to see if it goes into limp home mode.Switching off and on clears condition.
The fault is caused by sticky vanes, bad n75 valve or bad turbo (so i've read) I
will have to fix mine soon ..any suggestions greatfully received

Check the clutch on the end of the aircon compressor is attached and it is all blowing cold air.

Mine dropped off well under 60k and would have cost £1000 to replace but for some generosity on the side of skoda.
