Octavia Coil Springs

Hi guys, I haven't posted in a while (been busy with the other cars). I've finally gotten around to doing some things to the Octy and I have some questions. I searched the site but came up empty handed.

As some older members may know I live in Central America. The closest place for VAG parts I have is the United States. Skoda obviously is not sold there. I need to know if I can use Eibach (or Tein or Tokico or H&R) coil springs intended for the Golf/Jetta IV on my Octy?

Are dampers also interchangeable. I know ARBs and strut bars are but I'm not sure about those two other parts.

Do you guys recommend running Eibach Pro Kit coil springs with Octy VRS dampers?

Thx in advance

It has been a long time, dont know which parts would be interchangeable. Dampers and springs maybe difficult because the octy is heavier at the back than a VW Golf. The front end maybe ok though.

I saw a customer Ambiente 1.8T Octy with some H&R springs at my dealer. It had a slight rake to it. Maybe it was using Jetta MKIV springs? I do know that the Golf springs lower the MKIV more in the back than in the front, so maybe it could compensate?

I'm more worried about the springs not fitting at all, or settling with a higher front end than the front.

BTW Thx Mannyo

There are 32 different front spring part numbers listed for the Octavia range. If you have a look at the vehicle specification sticker for your car which is inside the front cover of the Service Manual and also under the carpet on the boot floor, you will see 3-letter codes for optional equipment. Those starting with G and L describe the type of front suspension and front coil springs fitted, eg mine are G34 and L50, and a dealer can use these to look up the correct part number (1J0 411 105 AN - coil spring for heavy duty suspension - 4X4 Kombi). If you have a look at the decode list here, you can do the same for your car. Once you know the weight rating for the front coil springs on your car, you will be better able to try and find similar specification Golf/Jetta springs.

Thx Denis. My codes are G07, L16, so by the list my car is:

G07: heavy duty suspension - front - sedan; 4X4:Kombi
L16: L16.....front axle weight class - weight range: G07:636-675KG / G14:656-690KG / G15:636-690KG

So I should get some coils close to 636 front and 675kg rear correct? Do you know of any sites which show Eibach's spring rates for their Golf/Jetta MKIV springs?

Thank you also for making the "Decoding" list in the first places. Great job

My service manual also shows these codes which do not appear on the "Decoding" list:

1NL
H6T
8L3
6Y0
B80
7A0
3GA

Can anyone tell me what they are?

Well I checked on Eibach German and U.S. sites and have seen that the 8575.140 Pro-Kit springs for the VW Bora are the same offered for the 1.6 8V Octavia.
