Octavia is not well

I was driving behind a 2.0 TDi Golf and a MK5 GTi Golf today. We all wee in for a bit of fun. As the road cleared we accelerated but my octavia did not do so cleanly. It jerked twice while i was in 2nd gear but was clean when I was in 3rd.

I have noticed this before but not as violent as this. I would like to check this out before going to the main dealer just in case its something easy to fix.

Any thoughts on what this could be?

Tow rope snatching

Plugs fouling - have you (had you) been doing a lot of slowish driving previously ?

Good point - depending on how old the car is - the post-2004 ones are better IIRC

Re: Octavia is not well

i remeber reading a thread on here. Someone had been following a scooby, the scooby had floored it and left a black soot in its wake, this got into the octys MAF and caused it to jerk / slow down.

Could it have been due to the dirty derv in front?

Re: Octavia is not well

It could be a whole manner of things, many of which have been suggested.

Idealy a fault code scan would be the first move to see if anything has been reported.

Re: Octavia is not well

Thanks for the advice. I cleaned the maf recently and changed the air filter as well so I suppose the next thing to check would be the boost hoses.

Apart from the hoses before and after the intercooler, are they any other hoses I should check?

Re: Octavia is not well

All of the ones linked to the back of the air filter I'd say

Re: Octavia is not well

Cleaning the MAF is never really that successful and if you think that may be the cause then you should buy a genuine new one.

Re: Octavia is not well

Have you tried to clean the throttle body yet? it is very cheap and easy to do and could well save you a lot of money.http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octav...+throttle+body
Mine was black before cleaning.
