Octavia Value?

Hi guys I'm new here what an excellent forum I shall be visiting again. Anyway I drive a Fiat and I'm a member of www.Fiatforum.com from where you guys were recommended.

So, I need a bit of help- My folks have a Octavia 1.9TD and they're thinking of trading it in for a new version Octavia. My mission is to persude them to do it but I'm not sure about the resale value of the car - I've had estimates from £7000 (parkers), which I was very dissapointing to say the least, to £10500 (AA) - So I'm confused. What do you think? Here's the stats cheers for any help.

1.9TD (90hp) Estate
Sept 2002 52 Reg
'Ambiente' (Electric windows, Remote Locking, A/C, 6CD 8 speaker radio thingy, Parking sensors)
Nearly 20000 miles.

Probably about £8k...maybe slightly more if they're lucky.
Best bet would be to see what the dealer's say, as it depends which guide price book they use...

Thanks for the reply Rob. £8g still sounds a bit dissapointing to me it's only two years old and cost them £13000 but thanks for your input - will be taking me dad to the dealers before long but there seems to be some confusion as to when you can actually get the new estate- it's not even mentioned on Skoda's .co.uk website!

This is the trouble with buying new cars!
17.5% of that price will be VAT, so that takes it down to £11063 - so a £3-4kish depreciation over 2 years isn't all that bad really...

Oh I don't doubt it I don't know anything about Skoda resale values so I'm sure you're right with £8000 - just a bit disappointing as always with these things!

Any idea if you can actually buy the new estate yet?

Cheers.

best thing to look at for reslae values on used cars is the car sales section of the Skoda UK website, you'll be able to search for cars exactly the same as your folks' and then see what they go for on the used forecourts.
