| octavia vrs 1.8T remap can anyone help? i am a new member and have had my vrs remapped by red dot racing to 196 bhp and 202 ft lb. (car was totaly standard) after about 6 hr of drive time i had a fault on the car on startup. i did as instructed bey the tech at reddot and disconnected the -ve. this seemed to sort the fault light. again around 5-6 hr running time, on a cold start the light reappeared. I then purchesed the cable and VAG com software to see what the fault was and clear it. it was the mapped engine temp this fault kept comming back so i took it to skoda for a service and to try sort the prob they couldnt do any thing as there was no probs with any of the parts. so i took the car back to reddot and they lowered some of the peramitters. once again 2 days after on a cold start the fault re appeared so i drove 500 mile again to have standard map put back on the car ran like new and it was ace apart from not having enough power. friday jus gone i went back again to get another map put on. this one felt not much diff from standard but had a bit more torque and was nice and smooth. the fuel economy was ace too on the drive back to haverfordwest. on the way i stopped at cardiff for a few hr and went to start the car and all she would do is turn over. these are the results or the engine scan: Friday, 12 October 2007, 20:34:40 VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US [b] 6 Faults Found: 18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30: Voltage too Low P1602 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 16985 - Internal Control Module: Memory Check Sum Error P0601 - 35-00 - - 17645 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 1 (N30): Open Circuit P1237 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17647 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 3 (N32): Open Circuit P1239 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17648 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 4 (N33): Open Circuit P1240 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent 17646 - Fuel Injector for Cylinder 2 (N31): Open Circuit P1238 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent RAC have had a look and said the ECU is broke. has anyone had a similare experience and what will it take to fix? also were is the ECU on the mk1 octy? were can i get the stuff to remap the car myself? many thanks guys billy Last edited by claytarget_god; 14-10-2007 at 11:58. |

| Re: octavia vrs 1.8T remap take it to a decent company, someone like Jabba, OK it costs more but you will get it done properly, also they will be getting 220 ish bhp out of it. Sorry but its another case of doing it on the cheap & getting your fingers burnt. If your ECU is fooked a new one is I believe about £600, if you buy second hand you will need someone to burn your security codes onto it, you cant just fit one from another car. Its located behind the wiper blades, remove the wipers & then the black plastic panel behid them & you will find it around cenral in the car.

| Re: octavia vrs 1.8T remap Got to agree with Stuart - 192 bhp is far less than I'd expect from a remap. Pre first remap my stock vRS was putting out 188bhp on the rolling road. After the remap (by Star Performance) it was up to 216 bhp.

![]() As Stuart has said a quality re-map from Jabba will be well worth it in the long run, even if it's just the generic map for £375ish. If you keep the car a few years you'll make the money back with the extra fuel economy you'll be getting!!

| Re: octavia vrs 1.8T remap Hi, this might be short notice for you, but JBS Autodesign @ Chesterfield have got a 2 for 1 offer available sat 20th Oct on the Custom Code phase1 generic remap. If you can find someone else, either a friend or somebody on the forum to have it done as well, it will work out at about £223 each all in. Thats saving a few pennies & you are gettinga reputable remap. Either that or you might be able to get a price match else where![]() |

| Re: octavia vrs 1.8T remap Dont want to point any fingers at anyone but this sounds like a checksumm problem. It is commonly known in the chiptuning world that the ECU in the 180BHP 1.8T uses a later chaecksumm correction than the first 150BHP model. Anyone not using the latest remapping software with all the paid for updates will have this problem. If you need it resetting i can do this for you, even with a blocked ECU from incorrect checksumm we can flash this on bench in a few minutes without to much hassle. |

| Re: octavia vrs 1.8T remap Just noticed this post. I know its resolved now, but the checksum fault log is 100% an mapping error. When a re-map is carried out, checksumms must be calculated correctly and accurately as the data is altered in the memory
