| Octavia vRS Rear brake problem Hello Everyone, I only have about 3 months left in my vRS before I get me new Octavia but I must tell you lads and lassies about a ONGOING problem with the rear brakes on my June 2003 Red vRS. about two months ago i was just about to go away in the caravan (No i cant believe i fitted a towbar on a vRS either!) and noticed that the rear brakes looked a little low. I phoned Horners and whipped it in for replacement disks and pads. When I got it back the brakes screeched intermittantly whenever i did forward braking a nd hurendusly when i did reverse braking. Back in again, after some strategic grinding the techys declared problem solved. More like insolved!!! Back again, this time another series of grinding and a different techy. Got it back, no forward screeching again ever but the rear braking... Well lets put it this way, my boss sits in the opposite side of the building at our office in st. ives and he could hear me reversing into a parking place through 1 exterior wall and two interior walls and god knows umpteen amounts of double glazing. Back Again, involved Skoda customer services and the lease company. Then got it back and yet still not right, making god awful sound, do they test drive this with my stereo on? (IT IS BLOODY LOUD). 4th time lucky, "we have herd from the factory that on all vRS made in end 2004 onwards there is a fault with the brakes whereby some clips are missing which stops the pads from moving inside the caliper housing." Thank God I thought. Got the car back last Friday and guess what....It is still bloody doing it. So i have booked it in for a week on friday and told them if it is not fixed this time i am going to steel a furby vRS from there show room!!! NOTE: NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH SQUEELIN ON THE BRAKES IN THE WHOLE 21 MONTH previous!! Only since new brake pads and disks fitted to rear (Yes noise is from rear) Sounds like a giant hitachi earth digger movin accross a ships hull!!! Interested to know some of you lots thoughts. |

| I get it in my 05 Octy vRS while reversing, its a common fault, but its annoying that it only seems to happen occasionally. |

| My 05 Octy is exactly the same. It gets really loud so to save embarrasment I use the handbrake to stop me when I'm reversing. I've heard so many stories about people trying to get it sorted resulting in multiple visits to the dealers with no luck - I just can't be bothered to even try
