Octy vRS engine movement?

Howdy...

just wondering if when you guys rev the engine rocks much?

I cant remeber noticing it before but I was checking the v-belt tension the other eve and I noticed when I revved the engine visibly rocked...

any ideas, just wondering if when the gearbox was replaced and engine mount wasnt fitted correctly?

I can move it by hand too, not much but it defo moves, can anyone give it a go and see what they get please?

thanks in advance

Cheers

Fergal

Re: Octy vRS engine movement?

i would expect a small amount of movement as there should be some tolerance in the engine mounts but if you can move the engine by hand without having to try too hard then i'd say theres something wrong there.

best bet is to get it looked at either by a dealer or good local garage.

infact... thinking about it, if the gearbox wasnt replaced that long ago take it back to the place that did the work.

Re: Octy vRS engine movement?

You'd be surprised at the amount of movement there is under the bonnet when you boot the throttle.

Should you ever put your wagon on a rolling road and see it with the bonnet up, ask the guy in the driver's seat to accelerate brisky and you will see the engine rolls a good couple of inches*. To stop this you need up-rated engine mounts, but I don't think people bother too much because these up-grades transmit too much vibration through to the cabin.

* dependent on how much torque your motor puts out.

Re: Octy vRS engine movement?

As Leeboy says, the vibration is a little unpleasant at first but the mount soon beds in.

Re: Octy vRS engine movement?

Cars on RRs rock their engines like crazy... it's rather disconcerting actually.
