| Octy VRS Estate Hi Picked up my low mileage Sept 03 Octy VRS estate today . Car was bought from Trans City Cars London and was delivered today from London. Have a few concerns though 1) I checked car on a friendly local MOT testers ramp before parting with cheque. Despite my concerns after reading the great info on this site, the front air dam under body guard was sheared on one side and almost through on other. I had specifically asked salesman to ensure this was checked and not damaged before delivery. After some phoning spoke to salesman who agreed local Skoda dealer could repair guard and bill them. This part looks to be in 3 pieces and 2 outer pieces would need at least replacing. Would I be better of putting difference towards the sump guard kit I read elsewhere here? Does this totally replace this under guard? 2) Are there any other plastic body guard’s rearwards after gearbox, covering cat etc? If so it is missing. 3) I received Skoda literature pack but book is dated 2002 and not 2003. Does not mention ASR etc that I can see. Should it be a unique manual for VRS Estate? 4) I received no service literature/book, Car has done 9700 miles. Salesman promised car was serviced before despatch, but he also did not do 1) above 5) I'm sure another VRS Estate I tried had VRS logo'd mats (or was I imagining this?) but this has standard Octavia mats. One holdown clip missing from front mat and no holes in rear mats to utilise clips in floor. Took back clip out and fitted to front, it goes in but does not want to tighten Are there supposed to VRS mats as standard or are optional extra? There are a few other little niggles which will address later. Other than that car is like new to drive Sorry for all questions but would be grateful if someone would answer tonight so I can ring him tomorrow. Thanks Hugh |

| Did you have any sort of vehicle check carried out on the car before you bought it? (AA/RAC or HPi checks?) Also was the car described as having a full service history? If it wasn't it is likely that you won't be getting the service book If it was described as having FSH then insist you get the service history for it as it will be important for resale time. Do you know who had the car before you? Is it ex-fleet or something? Could explain the absence of 'literature' and the removal of underbody protection if it has been driven enthusiastically!!!I don't know the dealer you talk of so I'm not quite sure of the sort of place you have brought from. Does the car come with any kind of warranty etc? By the way my vRS came with logo'd floor mats and I think it is quite common for the clips that hold them to break off Hope you get the niggles sorted out Then get out there and enjoy it ![]()

| Hi Dealer is Skoda and car sourced through used Skoda Network. Car advert (I have kept copy) states full service history. However, as it a Sept 03 car still under warranty with under 10,000 miles, I do not know service schedule type, 10,000 miles, 20,000 miles? my MOT tester checked car out he was happy had a grin on his face when he came back from road test. Confirmed mileage circa 10,000 just by condition of underbody parts etc. Engine service decal has no entry on it yet. Tried to get hold of sales person this morning with no luck. Want to sort out a few niggles such as correct mats, underbody tray, few chip marks when advised me car had faultless paintwork. Can anybody answer the Under Guard question, is there another guard mid body? |

| I didn't realise it was a Skoda dealer - it all sounds ok then! I'm pretty sure all the documentation will turn up in due course but it maybe worth reminding them. If you have a few niggles with the car it is worth creating a sort of 'snagging list' which itemises what needs doing. If you paid A1 money for the car it should really be in A1 condition.I have a hatchback version of the Octy vRS and presume underneath they will be more or less the same. I will have a look underneath for the various guards today if I get the chance ![]()

| Well took her out for her first proper spin up the Brecon Beacons today loved it . Lots of lovely twisty bits with long straights thrown in , and not much traffick about. Trip was to take my mother, wife and my little girl out for Sunday lunch. Why is it when I chose parking space in large car park with nothing either side and plenty of other spaces, that someone with a shagged out Peugot parks so close to you you cannot get in car I put a picture of her on my profile with a backdrop of the lovely Beacons.Could not find any local Shell Optimax for her, so ran on standard premium unleaded. Only niggles could find were small vibration between 55 and 65 from front offside, could be front wheels need re-balancing or lost a weight. It could also be due to fact under guard is sheared through on this side and hanging slightly down? Gearbox still very tight. Will try and get hold of dealer tomorrow to sort out other faults as follows: 1) Underbody guard 2) Poor paint repair to a kerbing mark on spoke face 1 Alloy wheel (I specified all alloy wheels are to be kerb damage free) 3) No VRS carpets 4) 3 bad stone chips to passenger door and poorly touched up. One near tailgate badge, and small crack in paint on edge front spoiler near offside headlight. Anybody used these "Chippaway/Dentmaster etc repairers. Are they good?5) No Service history book yet, perhaps he's waiting for my cheque to clear. I'll be stuffed if I am going to wait another 8 months or 10,000 miles in a Turbocharged car for a service, I think I will drop oil very soon for a gallon of Castrol RS. What do you say? |
