| Re: Oil change help needed Halfords are wrong. You need a spec VW 503 00 oil for variable service intervals. This is an 0W-30 fully synthetic oil. The FAQ on this subject is currently missing, but here is an oldish list of suitable LongLife oils: Aral SuperTronic LongLife II SAE 0W-30 BP Visco 7000 LongLife II SAE 0W-30 Castrol Longlife 2 Top Up SAE OW-30 Castrol SLX LongLife II SAE 0W-30 Elf Evolution CRV SAE OW-30 Esso Universal LD SAE 0W-30 Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL Longlife Plus SAE 0W-30 Q8 Formula Excel EDX SAE OW-30 Mobil SHC Formula LD SAE 0W-30 Motul Specific 50601 50600 50300 SAE OW-30 Shell Helix Ultra X SAE 0W-30 Texaco Havoline Synthetic 50601 SAE OW-30 I have been using the version of Castrol SLX LongLife II which includes that spec plus 506 00 and 506 01. But be aware that Castrol also make a version of that meeting spec VW 503 01 - this is not suitable for your car. You should be able to get Haldex oil at any VAG dealer. You will need to use VAG-COM sftware (or a dealer) to reset your car for variable servicing.
