Oil & filter change Octy vRS- how much ???

I've just booked my Octy in for a small water leak in the drivers footwell (covered under warranty). I also checked the price for an oil and filter change. To say that I was shocked was an understatment to say the least !

£37.00 for the oil, £10 or so for the filter then they wanted about £40 to do the job. £40 bloody quid labour - I don't think so......... Looks like I'll look for someone else to do the job.... Any local suggestion in and around Essex ??

Andy

FSH is not a problem as its an interim change. I've just spoken to another dealer and the situation is this:

Fixed 10,000 mile service interval - They use 'cheap' oil which is at Skoda price abt £3.50 a litre
Variable 'longlife' (basically 20,000 service interval) - They use fully synthetic oil which is £9 a litre a Skoda pricing.

According to the Skoda dealers in the south that I service, "ALL" dealers use "FULLY SYNTHETIC" oil, be it for variable or fixed servicing.

Mate - I rang around five local dealers (as posted in my other thread) and in the end instead of paying £170 - £240(!!) I took it along to Power Engineering (01895 255699). They did my 20,000 mile service inc the Synta synththetic VAG oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter and a full engine flush (and I was surprised about the amount of cr&p that came from the sump!); every hinge and latch was lubed up and the car had a thorough inspection, all fluids were topped up also and it was all done in a caring way! - £95 all in. (As ****y's pricing isnt always pound for pound a week or so later) I confirmed this price for any future Briskoda members ringing for the same service, just mention Lee or Briskoda.

If they use genuine parts and stick to the service schedule laid down by Skoda then surely the warranty is fully in tact??

Lee
