Exclamation Oil be getting annoyed then!

Well it's been an expensive week:

Pair of front tires, Brake pads all round and a lub service

For some silly reason i thought i'd check the oil yesterday (post service - never can trust them mutter mutter) and discovered that there wasn't any!! My dipstick was devoid of lubrication.

Phoned the dealer who told me if i came back they'd top it up for me! I tried to explain that this may result in catastrophic engine failure but they didn't really seem to bothered... where do i stand if it's done damage??

Leaves me asking why i pay for a job that i'd do far better myself!!!!!!!

Not teaching my granny, but was it on a level surface when you checked? Hot or cold?

They should be bringing oil to your car - not you the car to them! How do they know there is any oil in the engine? And how much oil did they charge you for? Finally, does the oil warning light come on for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on? If not, then it isn't working - and you need it to be working in the situation your car is in. So many questions, so few answers...

To keep your warranty intact , I presume

I can't think of any other reason to take your car to a main dealer for a service .............the spotty young apprentice has to learn on something !!

Someone has to pay for the flashy showrooms , the free tea and coffee machines .

So anything between £50 -£70 per hour has got to be a bargain ...........hasn't it

The car was cool and on a level surface

It's now two years old (never raced or rallied ) and doesn't use any oil

Oil warning light works and there's obviously just enough in there as it goes out on startup.

I did wander if i was being a little pedantic asking them to bring me oil (i had a litre from when i do the oil every 5k) but i figured it'd just cost me 80quid so i could be..

It annoys me most that i worked as a 'monkey' in a vw main stealer 4 a while (and left because they were scarily bad), yet i'm not allowed to carry out the routine maintainace despite having all the nessecary toys to diagnose etc!!

Went into them today and not so much as a 'sorry for the inconvinience' will NOT be using that stealer again!!!

The spotty young apprentice should also be closely supervised to make sure he does the job properly. Not used as a source of cheap labour in order to maximise profits.

I'd like to see this dealer appearing in the review section. If they can't get an oil change right they deserve to be named & shamed.

I allways take great pride in passing knowledge onto young spooty 'erberts that may work with me. But you do get alot these days that arent interested and are just there to doss around. I usually report them and get them packing. Its a far too a serious job to have someone who isnt interested to who doesnt care working on a customers car.

I dont approve of using an apprentice as a 'cheap' technician, they are there to learn.

Good to hear Ross, but you know as well as i do that it happens in all trades...

There's no suggestion that it's the case in this instance though, and if it's not then this dealer's "service" is even more shocking.
