Re: Oil leak from 1.9 TDI 90 BHP engine

The photo's helpful. That's one of the crankcase (well more like the cam cover actually from the photo) ventilation hoses. If there's oil leaking out of it, then there will be air leaking in, so it needs replacing for best running. If there's oil inside it leaking into the main air feed, that may or may not be ok. It depends on how much, and what sort of mileage your car's done.

Re: Oil leak from 1.9 TDI 90 BHP engine

After some research I have found the exact oil leaking part. It is pcv valve ( Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve) that ensures continual evacuation of gases from inside the engine.

If oil's coming out of that over the outside of the engine, it needs replacing.

No..The valve itself leaking. No oil leak from the engine. Still need to replace pcv?

Re: Oil leak from 1.9 TDI 90 BHP engine

Where is the oil going?

If it's coming out of the valve over the outside of the engine, then the PCV valve is leaking.

If it's going into the intake duct, that might be normal operation, but whether it is or not depends on quantities. VAG report up to 1l / 1_600km (1_000 miles) as being "normal consumption". If there's been a significant increase in oil consumption recently, I think you've identified why.

Re: Oil leak from 1.9 TDI 90 BHP engine

I have checked again in the engine bay. The oil is dripping from pcv valve breather pipe end which connects to air intake. Please refer the picture. The oil is dripping on the backside of the engine. But i haven't noticed any increase in oil consumption. It might be a slight leak only.

Is there an actual valve in it isn't it just a pipe connection for the breather.

Ok, check the tightness of the connectors either end of it. That might fix it.

After that, clean up the hose, valve and where it's dripped, and keep an eye on it. If it's still dripping it ought to be replaced, but there's no urgency for it.
