| Oil overfilling & turbo failure? This relates back to my post of last week ( White smoke and high fuel consumption). My Octavia tdi has been checked out today by the local Skoda dealer. I got a phone call late this afternoon from the service manager to say that there was no diesel contamination of the sump oil but he asked, had I added any oil to the engine recently. Needless to say I hadn't, in fact the car has done only 1500miles since last service and can usually go 9k without adding any oil, so I am assuming the dealer has overfilled my a massive quantity. My question now is, since the turbo had packed in, although the garage has stripped down today, found lots of oil contamination, cleaned parts, put it back together and it worked, could there be faults induced by the excessive quantity of oil in the sump? The garage are doing further tests/ cleaning of turbo and test driving tomorrow. Many thanks to those who responded to last week's post, this is a great forum for Skoda owners Octavia TDi 51 plate & 63k, bog standard and till now 100% reliable |

| Re: Oil overfilling & turbo failure? What a bummer. If the dealer overfilled the oil by that quanity, I'd be getting it in writing that any engine damage in the next year or 20k (min) will be repaired by the dealer if it in any way could be attributed to an overfill of oil. The increased pressure could have damaged the piston rings, oil seals, turbo, EGR valve, filled the intercooler and pipework. Keep a good close eye on oil consumption now, and fuel economy, and smokiness, and if it doesnt feel right, then get it straight back to them.

| Re: Oil overfilling & turbo failure? totally!IIRC I did say last week that it wasn't unknown for auto-fillers to over-fill engines. |
