Which oil to top up?

Hi All,

I've got an octavia estate 2.0 petrol. I've had it a few months and need to top up the oil but I've no idea which oil to use. I've got the service book, but there's no mention of what was used last time and nothing else. I'm intending to change the oil shortly, but need to top it up in the meantime as I'm going on a long journey before I'll have chance to change it.

What do you guys recommend I use?

Ta.

Re: Which oil to top up?

My dealer uses Shell Helix for anything on fixed servicing.

Not sure offhand, and don't have an invoice to hand. OTOH there's no reason to use synthetic for a 12_000 mile change unless you're running a turbo engine.

Let's say ARAL 5W40 will be fine, I guess. Anyway, what mileage your car has ?
