| Oil Been looking at getting some oil for my 2002 4x4 and after checking the suitable oils for long life at the top of the page I tried to get some prices but it all got a bit confusing as apparently Castrol Slx 2 was replaced by slx3 then by Edge which is 5/30 not 0/30 as specified. Whats everybody else using? And how much is it? I've just noticed while checking something else that last year they used Quantum 5/40 fully synthetic so figured I'd change it now instead of waiting for service light as I'm not sure if this is up to the job. PS I've not topped the car up between services ever except when it was newish and then only with 0.25ltr. Is that normal? |

| Re: Oil Any oil which meets spec VW 504 00 - which is backwardly compatible with spec VW 503 00 - will be fine. The later spec is a 5W-30 fully synthetic oil and is specified for the petrol-engines New Octavia on flexible service intervals, as is VW 503 00. See the sticky below for known brands of VW 504 00. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-o...07-00-a/55476/

| Re: Oil Thanks Dennis. Having checked a few other forums there seems a lot of confusion on this one. Think I'll go for Mobil 1. |

| Before buying your oil, check with Opie Oils, they are great guys, know what they are talking about and offer oil at a good price, together with a great service. Ordered the oil one day, received the next. I use Fuchs oil as I believe they deal with VAG quite a lot. Give them a ring for any advice and don't forget to mention Briskoda when you ca;l for discount. |
