Not sure that the change would be worth it. I would keep your current one, mine is nearly 4 years old now on a "Y" reg.

You will loose quiet a lot in depreciation and end up with the same car, maybe wait till the new one later this year (I hope).

or you want one with extras this time that you didnt have before like Xenons, cruise and parking sensors for instance... wouldnt bother if i were you tbh. seems a waste when the new one will be out (hopefully) at the end of this year.

Mind you,a fantastic new Octavia vRS 180bhp and all the kit for less than £13k OR

Ford Focus 1.4lx £12,545
Rover Streetwise £12,745 (think you get £12k discount though)
Rover 45 1.4 club £12,995
Daewoo(chevy?) Nubira £12995
Renault Kangoo £12,500
Citroen C3 Pleurihell £12895

You get the idea. It's a stonking great big bargain(and whatever anyone says I don,t think new one will be ultra cheap)

Octavia vRS on drivethedeal.com is currently £11,998 .... might be able to include some even more fantastic motors in your list now, lozgti!

Back on topic, Pete - don't do it, mate. Wait for the new one as the others said

Agree. May be a good deal now but it will take a big dip in value when the new one comes out, thereby (easily imho) negating any savings made earlier.

Be patient......

True.

Skoda seem to improving their position on depreciation(or lack of)and predictions for the new octavia seem to be extremely good.Test Drive mag referring to skoda as 21st century chic!

So,reluctantly I agree

Proton Impian £11995

I've just chopped in a 02' for a 53'! Lost £3500 on me old one in a year! New one is much tighter, better MPG and has the 'feel' of a new car! Go do it!

I traded in my 51 for a 54 and wish I hadn't. The new one isn't a patch on the old one. I get less MPG, it's not as quick, it's much noisier (wind roar and road noise from the back), the breaks squeal in reverse (the dealer fix lasts about 100 miles then it starts again), the brake discs rust overnight and ruin the pads (need de-glazing regularly), there are numerous trim rattles and it generally seems as though Skoda have cut costs e.g the other day I noticed the headlights seem to be plastic (they were flexing as I cleaned them) whereas the old ones were glass, the dealer had to put various bits of boot trim in which were missing (probably just came out of my old one), the spare was steel rather than alloy (though I swapped the alloy out of my old one), the boot net is much smaller and less effective than the old one (minor point I know but it's harder to secure small items which fly around the boot).

My 51 plate was a dream - loved it from the minute I got it and was a big skoda fan and on variable servicing it only saw the dealers twice.

The 54 plate has been a complete pita since I've had it with various trips back to the dealer to put (or try to put in most cases) things right. It (coupled with probs on Mrs R's Fab RS) has put me right off Skoda and Mrs R has already told me I will not be buying Skoda again.
