Parent's Octi 1.9tdi Ambiente, alternator pulley snapped. FIRE FIRE

My parent's Octi broke down last week in France, the Alternator pully snapped and as a result the alternator caught fire . They managed to put the fire out before it got to bad and have since had a new alternator and belt fitted.

Is it worth taking it to a Skoda dealer over here to have it checked out properly? as the work wasn't carried out by a Skoda Dealer (it was a small garage that support the Breakdown company)
And
Is there any thing else that might damaged?

It caught fire

Well what extinguisher did they use as if it was powder or anything I'd want to make sure it hadn't got in elsewhere.

Sounds like the one way pulley seized, fairly common and there is a modified part for it.

What is the one way pulley and what does it do? Is there a way to tell if the new part that's fitted is the modified one?
