| Plastic or metal impeller? My machine has to go into the workshop on Thursday to sort out a problem (takes ages to warm up inside the cabin, radiator fans going non stop, engine light on dashboard on, etc) and they have mentioned that the thermostat might be jammed, or maybe the impeller on the water pump has broken. My engine is 1.6 AVU, but I thought it was only the early 1.8's which suffered from plastic impellers. Could any knowledgeable person state whether my one has a plastic or metal impeller? Don't want them to rip me off...... Thanks, SR |

| Re: Plastic or metal impeller? Skoda still only supply plastic impellors as oem, so if your car has an original skoda one its plastic. You can get metal ones, but these are made by a third party.

| Re: Plastic or metal impeller? I opted to have the later modified OEM plastic impeller water pump fitted when the cambelt was changed on the assumption that the main problems of the impeller breaking free of the shaft, and the plastic vanes breaking, have now been designed out.
