| Plastic scuffing sound... from the steering wheel I have noticed for about the last 10 days when then turning the steering wheel I can hear some sort of scuffing sound (when at low speed - ie. reversing into driveway, etc.) A little bit like plastic on plastic, but when I had a quick glance around the back of the wheel to see if was catching on the steering column housing it was a long way away. That then made me wonder what else it might be... and I came up with electrical contacts - maybe for the airbag and horn, but I am not sure how these are connected up. Any ideas? (I have not checked to see if the horn [or air bag] works!!) Last edited by mbames; 25-10-2006 at 12:37. Reason: spelling corrections! |

It used to just do it for a small number of days and then go away for months and then suddenly reappear. | |

| Re: Plastic scuffing sound... from the steering wheel Could it be a cable tie in the ignition shroud or something similar? Has an aftermarket alarm or anything been installed?

| Re: Plastic scuffing sound... from the steering wheel slip rings..... I knew there was a proper word for it. Maybe they need a light application of some lubrication? No aftermarket alarm.... |
