Re: Possible wheel bearing?

Front or rear?
Jack the car up and spin the wheels up by hand you may feel roughness/tightness in the bearing.... Failing this take it down a private road and if the wheel that is loaded is noisey then its possible its that bearing

Re: Possible wheel bearing?

When my wheel bearing had gone i jacked the car up and felt for any vertical free movement in the wheel. There was lots on mine and i got the bearing replaced.

Re: Possible wheel bearing?

Jack the car up, spin the wheel whilst holding onto the road spring. Any bearing issues can usually be felt as a vibration in the spring.

Re: Possible wheel bearing?

You should notice of it's the wheel baring or not when you go round corners at a moderate speed. That's when i noticed it.... going round the roundabout!

Dont rely on this method on the newer A5 platformed cars, been caught out a few times as they dont behave like normal bearings for some reason. i.e the loaded side isnt always the noisy one.

I would say that this is what i found with mine. Tried holding the spring but couldn't feel anything though. Only when i rocked the wheel from top to bottom did it show up.
