| If the revs are shooting up and there is no increase in road speed it can only be the clutch. It could be either premature wear or *possibly* a master cylinder problem (though that would/should have totally different symptoms) Either way it is worth a trip back to the dealer as it should be covered under warranty. |

| I had a similar problem when I had a tuning box fitted to my engine and turned right up, only did it a few times, really odd, revs jumped a bit as if you were slipping the clutch then all returns to normal. Mine is a 2004 model incidentally.

| The warranty doesn't cover natural wear and tear, but I would not expect a clutch to be causing problems at that age and mileage. I suggest a trip to the dealer to get the problem investigated and, hopefully, fixed under warranty.

| Re: Skoda Octavia 2004 (old model) clutch problem Hi Thanks for all your comments I thought you would be interested to know that the fault has now been fixed  thanks to a brilliant manager at our local dealership who spent time researching and found that the problem is in fact a design fault with Skodas such as ours Apparently there is a problem with condensation on the clutch plate housing, which has now (hopefully) been fixed under warrenty by replacing the faulty part with a modified one.So anyone out there with the same problem my advise is persevere as we were told originally that there was NO fault and we would have to pay for investigation which, if we had would probably not shown it up as it is an intermitant fault depending upon condensation. |
