Re: tyres

I appreciate you are new but there is thread after thread on this subject. A simple use of the search feature will dig up many alternatives.

I really do think it's about time there was a dedicated section to tyres and am behind those pressing for this additional forum.

Re: tyres

I recently purchased a pair of 225/45/R17 Toyo Proxes T1-R for my Octy from etyres for £100 per corner.

These are way better than the Dunlop SP sport 3000s that they replaced - I have no idea about the potential life of them but they grip the road very well

I got a set of Pirelli PZero Neros 215-45-17 from Eiretyres, same as mytyres and they only cost €125 each which is only £78.60.

A lot of tyre for feck all money

Re: tyres

Anybody had any experience of 'Sunny' tyres. Look almost identical to Toyo's at half the price?.

There's cheap and there's inexpensive. Dunlops are cheap, but Toyos are inexpensive (and cost less than Dunlops too).

Re: tyres

They suply VW according to that add.

Can't say I have ever seen a Skoda with them on so they may mean they supply outside of the EU. Personally don't scrimp that much on decent tyres. As has been said they are the only thing holding you to the road and letting you stop or corner.

What ad? :-|

My comments about Dunlop are based on personal experience (wore out fast and didn't grip that well to make up for it), and 3rd party tests. Check this as a typical link http://www.etyres.co.uk/tyre-tests-n...rands-lead.htm

Re: tyres

Wore the Dunlops out after 18,000 miles. Bought at set of Marshal tyres from DM Tyres in Oldham Lancs. Khan, the boss, recommended them and gets them to order. They only take a day or two to get hold of. They lasted about 24000 miles. To my mind they're a better tyre and I've no complaints. They cost me £185 the lot balanced and fitted. I've had two further sets since and they've each cost £200 per set. I've done around 80,000 miles now and there's probably 5,000 miles left on the set I've got on. I get them to chuck in a free hand car wash at the same time.

What "Sunny Tyres" ad? I'm not trolling; there are no billboards hereabouts, and the only things I normally watch on ITV are motorsport shows.

Re: tyres

Sunny Tyres - All, I was being dense, and thinking of a Tv ad, rather than a claim that VAG supply them as OEM somewhere in the world!

Soz.
