| Briskodian | Re: what should i pay for this VRS hiya looks like it may be slightly high. should really be paying around the £5500 - £6000 mark for a car of that age with that many miles. really does depend on the overall condition of the car and the service history - has the been modded ?? |

| Re: what should i pay for this VRS The p/x Glass's price says for excellent condition £5230 and average condition £4690. Then I'd add circa £1k for a private sale. Then yellow does affect the resale, so I'd say £6k if the condition is decent. Steve

| Re: what should i pay for this VRS The dealer wouldn't sell it on a forecourt for less than 7k, or was he advising your friend to not to sell for less than 7 privately? ![]() I wouldn't pay 7k in a private sale for it, myself. Steve

| Re: what should i pay for this VRS Oh dear, I get the feeling you're not going to have much luck here mate! If he's trying to sell the car for the same price as a dealer would ![]() How about the first one listed from this 'Trader search ? Nearly exactly the same car as his by the sounds of it... HTH, Steve

| Re: what should i pay for this VRS I think around 6k. My 2001 with 43k on the clock FSH in excellent condition (new disks and pads all round etc etc) was only £5400 last November.

| Briskodian | Re: what should i pay for this VRS Have to say that if I could have got a car at what Wisebuyer are saying then would have been a happy bunny! Have had a look at some of the other cars I considered before buying my Octy 110 Elegance and the prices quoted are way too optimistically cheap i m o. If you can get one at the prices they are saying then good luck but guess those prices must be without warranty etc or are not taking Nth Yorkshire retailers into account! |

| Briskodian | Re: what should i pay for this VRS 6k tops, 5 and a half would be nearer the mark. Buying from friends is always a nighmare, especially when they aren't talking 'friend' prices. My father in law is the same, always trying to sell me his old motors at shop prices then looking askance when you turn him down. I'd tell him the wonga is there if he changes his mind and lose interest for a while. Can't be that many people want a yellow vrs anyhow. |

| Re: what should i pay for this VRS The dealer should provide a warranty, plus you have legal redress under the Sale of Goods Act if you end up with a lemon (no pun intended). Buy privately and the phrase 'buyer beware' applies. Factor those considerations into what you are prepared to pay.
