I'm not sure about the "best" tyre pressures, but here's the rule-of-thumb I use:-

Octavia 1 (don't know about the new one, yet...) tyres are 205/55 * 16 (standard on the Elegance and L&K). Ambiente & Classic have 15" wheels, vRS's have 17" wheels; they will be different.

Normal driving: the handbook says 2.2 bar rear, 2.0 bar front. I keep the rears at a "bare" 2.2 bar (start low, inflate until the gauge reads 2.2 bar) and the fronts at a "full" 2.05 bar (over-inflate; decrease pressure until the gauge reads 2.05). No change for long journeys, but I add an extra 0.5 bar to the rears if the back seat and/or the boot is full. Works for me

Trackdays are another matter....

Thanks for that I thought the front was meant to be more than the rear.

Generally to get an accurate reading from a tyre pressure gauge you should over inflate then let the pressure down to the required amount.

Perhaps you should do some experimentation

This works, allegedly, but it requires dedication and nerve
