| Had a good drive thgis weekend in my Octy 4x4...I feel I could do with some new tyres...the Dunlops are a little low on tread and seem a bit skittish. What tyres would you guys suggest...standard alloys 205/55R16? I know that Goodyear Eagle F1's are very good but Toyo Proxes T1-R are also rated. Any other suggestions. Also I need somewhere to get them in Manchester...I do usually go to 'Dave Sheldon Tyres' but they always seemed a bit too pricey...I used to pay £100 for Goodyear Eagle F1's on my Legacy Turbo (16" Alloys!!!). Any suggestions? Or should i stick to Dave Sheldon. Also HORNERS MANCHESTER BURY NEW ROAD are they any good I just got my service done there and they use Castrol GTX Magnatec? I thought that was pretty rubbish stuff? Thanks to all. |

| there's a tyre place in Trafford park that's quite good..... I got 4 205/55/R16 goodyear F1s for my Octy for £300 including balancing and tracking.... just gotta remember what the name of the place is now LOL... Got it ![]() Event Tyres Tel: 01618722030 Unit 21, Textilose Road, Manchester M17 1WA (Trafford Park Area) btw, when you go there, you go past a place called GSF (German, Swedish and French) - they're a good place to get bits for Skodas and VWs and in fact anything German, Swedish or French ![]()

| I have the F1's on the Octy and the Toyo T1-R's on the Ibiza and I rate both very highly so go for the cheapest or the ones you like the look of. I got the T1-R's from mytyres and arranged fitting through the website at a local branch of Hi-Q. Nothing wrong with Magnatec, good quality oil and exceeds VW's standards (printed somewhere on the back of the bottle).

| Depends on what you want from your tyres - all-out performance coming at a cost in winter, or a bit more of a compromise?

| I've had F1s before and have the Toyos on my FRP.... they do seem to be about as good as each other, so when I got the F1s, I chose them on price for the Octy ![]()

| Just wanted to add I got my Tyres fitted from Event Tyres last week...Goodyear Eagle F1's. A whole £100 cheaper than the place I used to go!!! To top it off they did the job very quicky, gave me honest...'won't gain them any sales' advice and wait for it...used a torque wrench to tighten wheel on!!! UPDATE...Yesterday got a puncture...I only had the tyres one week!!! Phoned them up Friday morning they suggested a puncture repair hence no new tyre sale. I said that I would rather have a new one. They said they did not have any Goodyear Eagle F1's in stock but would order me for the next day by 10.30am!!! I went today got the tyres fitted...service was rapid and excellent...they also did all the tyre pressure to 32 PSI as per a previous thread where someone asked about tyre pressures on a 1.8t Octavia estate (mine is a Hatch). All I have to state is the service at Event Tyres is excellent and I would recommend them to anyone. PUSSCAT you are a star. Aaquil. By the way 32PSI all round for the tyres is that okay or what...It seems better handling but the ride quality is not as good. WOULD 32PSI BE OVER-INFLATED? |
