Whats it worth?

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what a 2003 (03) silver octavia Vrs is worth. It has done 88000 miles and only extras are cruise control. And it has not had the cambelt done

Re: Whats it worth?

The Glass' guide says:

Excellent condition:
£4300
Average condition:
£3850
Below average condition:
£3380

If it's your car then I would seriously consider getting the cambelt changed!

Re: Whats it worth?

It is one I am considering buying/swapping with my car. The cambelt is the only thing putting me off about this car.

Apparantly skoda dealers have said there is no signs of wear on the cambelt at each of the services, seems a bit odd to me that it hasnt ben changed anyway

The cambelt would be my bargaining tool personally

Should be changed every 4 year/60k miles, so it would need doing. Can cost about £400 to get it done, so you can use this as a ballpark figure when negotiating...

Has this got full dealer history then?

Sounds a bit strange to me

If you do buy you need the cambelt doing straight away

I agree, and you cant inspect the whole cambelt for wear without removing it. I would get the cambelt and waterpump replaced straight away.

Re: Whats it worth?

If its any help... I bought an 03 VRS last month for £4750. It had 81000 miles, 2 owners and FSSH (and it had c.control and needed a cambelt change!)

Re: Whats it worth?

As the others have said, either get the current owner to do it or knock off £400 to cover it. (although an independent VAG specialist should be less). Either way it needs doing, this is one thing you dont want to break

Re: Whats it worth?

I actually went to the local main dealer and was quotes £250 all in including the uprated water pump. Thing is by the sound of it the guy is wanting a straight swap, and mine is worth 6k so im thinking his car is worth 5k max.
