Talking Whistle..............Whoosh!!

Hi

Just wondering, is it possible to increase the noise of the turbo, i have the whistle noise when putting my foot down which is great (just a big kid) but would like the whoosh sound when you take your foot off im not fussed about increasing power, just the sound is what i want.

Other cars can use a VTA dump valve, but from what i read a while ago they dont work, and a recirc one doesnt make any noise

I read somewhere that it is possible to drill a couple of holes in the std airbox to allow this sound? not sure if its possible, or if it effects the running of the car in anyway, but wouldnt want to do that on my airbox, would want to get another one incase it messes up. But i would be interested in some more details of where to drill and if the fueling is messed up etc etc, anyone done this???

So, other than drilling (for now) is there any other way of doing this?

Thanks

Gav

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

The less sound insulation you have between the DV recirc entry point and the atmosphere, the louder the sound will be. Also, a remap with raised boost will increase the noise.

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

I have this kit and the sound is awsome!! (I too am just a big kid ) performance seems better too, placebo effect? allthough it is mated to a samco tip.

Now wheres that exhaust and re map?

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

I fitted a Hyperboost DV and a Carbonio CAI and it's loud!

I prefer to think of it as a 'Vrooom....Tssssh!' sound rather than a whoosh, as that could be construed as being a bit

You also get the induction growl when pressing on which makes up for being a pauper and not being able to afford a £700 exhaust.

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

Well I would agree with the Carbonio.
The forge 007P would help too.
Mmmm this makes an awesome sound.
You would NOT be dissapointed with this

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

can you change to a forge 007P only, or do you have to have both for the sound? just thinking the car looks std, with 16" alloys too so dont want it to be too loud, just a bit louder, with a whoosh (not camp) to be a pain

The Forge will be a little louder but for full effect you will need a CAI......when boost is dumped it goes back into the airbox and with the standard air box being enclosed you will not get much of the "pstsssh".

Cannot really fault mine, and, as Ross quite rightly states, it does sound nice
Especially with a Blueflame turbo back exhaust and ABD Racing tip.

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

Decat with CAI sounds awesome if a little too loud for my tastes.

A bigger turbo will also change the sound of the engine and give a much louder "pstsssh".....3'' downpipe also helps.

Only got a couple of small bridges to go under round here but mine sounds pretty good....to me anyway.

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

Hi

Right, took a while but finally pulled my finger out of my **** and asked my insurers if i can fit ones of these, yep, no extra cost

So, order time, the ebay one looks good. Price wise too, so is it possible to fit another filter if that one is crap? Is it a pain to fit? any bodging or cutting required or is it a straight forward job? what about water ingress? or crap on the filter as looking under the bonnet the std one seems to go into the nsf wing?

Also, ive read on another post that you can simply fit a 3" hose and put a cone filter on it?? although looking at the pic for the ebay one, there is alot more to it?

Is it ok to fit a CAI to a standard car, ie, does the exhaust have to be upgraded? what about the fueling, will the air/fuel ratio be out? will the ecu automatically adjust this? any need to change the fuel from SUL? is the std DV ok?

One last question, is fitting a panel filter the same thing, ie noise wise?

Sorry for so many questions, want to make sure that fitting one is not gonna mess the car up

Cheers

In fact, think Beretta might be selling his CAI. Definately worth getting. Give him a PM.

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

ok, technical question:

When placed, does it suck in the cold air from the (lower placed) front spoiler or
the hot air under the bonnet? (stationary at a traffic light...)
Cold Air Filter seems the thirst one, but not sure.
Thougt the original filter gets it from the spoiler and
I have not seen such a CAI placed so...

Re: Whistle..............Whoosh!!

Hi
The CAI will suck in the cold air from the front bumper.
I think that Beretta has the LAN pipe one.
That is a shiny bling one.
The induction kits are the ones with the filter in the engine bay but has a pipe to blow cold air on to the filter.
Hope that helps a bit
Sarah

1) Yes a LAN and CAI will be fine on a standard car, no exhaust does not need to be changed.
2) Air/fuel will be sorted by the ecu
3) Unleaded/super unleaded is fine
4) Standard DV also fine

Send me your e-mail address and i can e-mail you my video (1Mb) of my Octavia with ABD CAI and Forge DV.
