| WRC rear wing Not sure am in right place but here goes, just a feeler is anybody out there wanting to swap there complete standard tailgate for mine. I have the WRC wing on mine but it is bonded on and would cause to much damage to remove. I want to revert to a more stealthy look so am looking for a straight swap nearly forgot Diamond Silver is the colour. Pics below http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/bored-my-vrs/112949/ Steve

| Re: WRC rear wing Iv'e only got one thing to say "Men in white coats" well that's 4 words WRC spoilers only actually look good on rally cars that need the speed advantages of a proper scientifically designed spoiler - or do I live in a very different parallel universe to these fools with spoilers. An after market WRC spoiler is just one you stick to you car with glue and nails ![]() |

| Re: WRC rear wing Sorry but IMO they look good on the rally cars because of the livery mainly, i think ALL WRC spoilers look hideous on a road car. As for the road car done up to look like a rally car ............. they are a different level of tw@ altogether. ![]() |

![]() A Skoda Works Car is nothing like the ones we all drive! They have got the 4 wheel drive-train out of the Audi. As far as I know they use a larger 2 litre engine tuned up to the nines not into Wogan on Radio 2. They got the best suspension setup money can buy and are lightened to the point where fillings are sculpted out of the rivets and welds on the roll-cage . The bodywork is composite and removable. They got about 450-550bhp not messing around with 225bhp tops. they spend millions of quid developing their works cars - they don't spend the 50 quid Halfords voucher from auntie Olive from your birthday on the week-end. I doubt anyone pimping their rides with their Daemon Tweaks catalogue will not even get close to the Works look. Not even the Limited Edition VRS in white and green livery...So why bother spending your hard earned money getting a 3bhp here and there, go on a diet this will do the same, leave your mates at home reduces weight and give better acceleration and less drag. Same with spoilers and bodykits...go and buy a Mitsubishi Evo or some other overpriced Japanese import for that big wing / drifting look The Octavia is what it is. The Octavia VRS is perfect as IS...why do you all discuss how to get this horsepower and that plastic look that all spotty chavs have in your local supermarket carpark after dark? You know the one: bonnet-car-bra, xenon headlights with BMW Angel eyes of course, blue side-lights (side-lights on with fog lights no sign of the head lights) lexus tail lights, some ridiculous spoiler or wing that looks like a double bookshelf and soddin neons. Not forgetting the infamous Baileys dump valve that makes that look at me noise, when actually everyone else in the world hears you pull away in a smoke and fuel frenzy and a PPPssshhht from the lights nearly killing the little old lady who stepped out in the last decade, scaring the willies out of her! The noise of a dump valve says "Knob!" to me, I can't be alone out there. If I'm alone in this forum, you must all be 17 1/2 years old and cringing at the above eulogy of what I have just written, as if I know you all personally. Octavias ARE the very best mix of engineering across the VAG group at a price that make the BMW & Merc drivers look like bell-ends. VRS's aren't perfect but you will all agree with me, this is a big leap forward for this Company from the old Octavia from the 1960's ![]() I hate it when people say "controversial newbie" too. I have been on this forum before but re-registered (lost info) I don't claim to know everything but do know Skodas, Alfas and old VW's inside out. My brother (Teflon Tom on this forum) knows the engines inside out to. He build blueprinted engines in his sleep. Rant Over!!!

| Re: WRC rear wing The wrc spoiler is subtle I admit - but that's my point.. why bother? you have to go through the trouble of getting it sprayed and attached. The standard spoiler is adequate and functional

| Still a **** | Re: WRC rear wing I have got a kevlar WRC spoiler off an original Evo 2 Octavia......in fact I have 2. ![]() So I will admit to the following. Men in white coats are coming to get me. I live in a very different parallel universe. I am one of these fools with spoilers. I have stuckeded it to my car with glue and nails. ALL WRC spoilers look hideous on a road car. I am a different level of ****. I have spent the 50 quid Halfords voucher from auntie Olive from my birthday on the week-end. I have got the plastic look that all spotty chavs have. I have a ridiculous spoiler or wing that looks like a double bookshelf. I have the noise of a dump valve that says "Knob!". I must be 17 1/2 years old with spots. I am that man!! If have to explain why then I really would be wasting my time.

| Re: WRC rear wing Not from me you cant, and it obviously isn't 'your thing' either ![]() OT, but maybe its because i have been around rally cars since i was a nipper and competed for over 15 years? You can't beat standing on a stage start hearing the clunk as the driver engages first gear on the dog box, then the revs rise, the ALS kicks in with its popping and banging until 5....4....3....2....1....GO - all great stuff, But when the same car is driven like that on a road section all you think is knob! ![]() doing nothing at all for rallying but giving it a bad name ![]() Less is definitely more on a road car, i appreciate a subtle modified road car as much as most on here, just don't over do it with huge snow plows on the front and moosive rear wings that are not needed and actually make the car slower, they can also make a smart car look gash. There are £10's of thousands spent on a road car to convert it into a rally car (at club level) where aerodynamic aids like this ARE needed to keep a 300BHP 4WD car on a gravel stage at well over 100MPH. These are not needed on the road ........ even if you are driving it like a complete tw@ all they do is draw (unwanted) attention to your driving, leave that for the kids in their 'hot' hatches with big bore exhaust and induction kit making all the noise and going nowhere ![]() |
