WRC wing/fuel econcomy

Would a wrc wing be likely to decrease fuel consumption due to the extra drag?

Im looking to get a price on fitting it next week, how much should I pay?

Probably, but not that much unless you drive at high speed everywhere. 18" rims will do more harm to your economy. As for price, panited and fitted, Ł100 to Ł200 I guess. Depends if you prep it yourself ready for top coat.

the purpose of a rear spoiler is two fold

1. to "Spoil" or disturb the air passing over the car which is intended to reduce cavitation pockets at the back of the car i.e drag so with it, in theory you should have less drag.

2. to increase downfoce giving you more grip, this tends only to work at higher speeds, Seemingly the ford escort Cosworth lost around 12-13 mph off its top speed due to the spoiler.

So where you gain on one you will loose on other IMHO

HTH

I wouldn't say you would lose that much mpg, especially if your driving say <50mph. You may notice a little loss on motorways tho due to the higher speeds.

Where did you get the wing? Looking for one myself without any luck so far

I have the WRC Spoiler on my car. However, it was on the car when I bought it 2nd hand so I can't really say how much effect it has on the mpg.

On the motorway sitting at 70 - 80mph from Newcastle to Harrogate (say 80 miles) I average around 38 mpg.

As other people have said, I don't think it would have much effect at slower speeds.
