Re: 1.9 TDI Timing Belt.

If you know exactly what your doing its not too bad but lengthy and as seen as your asking here i assume you don't so my advice would be dont even attempt to do this yourself

If you know of a very good trusted mechanic that will probably save you a few quid but a skoda main dealer would be best imho and your looking at around the £350 mark for the job to be done

Re: 1.9 TDI Timing Belt.

Thanks, I've changed timing belts before but without a haynes manual or something on this one, I'd just be figuring it out myself.

Probably better leave it to the stealer.
Incidently any special tools needed for the job?

Re: 1.9 TDI Timing Belt.

Yes a couple which you wont have as standard in your tool kit also there are several bolts etc that cant be reused again and have to be replaced for new ones

Getting the dealer to do is a very wise decision especially if your trying to do the job reading from a haynes manual

Dont forget to get them to replace the water pump with a metal impellered one when they do the timing belt its worth the extra few quid you'll pay and could even save you more cash in the long run
